Chelsea, Manchester United tracking Andrew Moran

[ad_1]

Chelsea and Manchester United have reportedly been closely watching 17-year-old Brighton & Hove Albion prospect Andrew Moran.

According to a report by TEAMtalk, Chelsea and Manchester United are among the clubs that are monitoring the progress of Andrew Moran. However, current club Brighton & Hove Albion are likely to keep a tight hold of the 17-year-old Irish prodigy.

Andrew Moran progressed through the ranks at Irish club Bray Wanderers but has chosen to finish his footballing education with Brighton & Hove Albion. The teenage attacking prospect made his way to the Premier League club last summer and has since made a huge impact for the club’s under-18 side.

With Brighton sitting pretty in third in the south section of the Under-18 Premier League table, Moran has played a key role in their stellar campaign, with a superb tally of 11 goals and 11 assists in 22 league outings. The youngster’s progress has certainly not gone unnoticed, with Chelsea and Manchester United having him scouted over the course of the season.

Chelsea have, for years now, had the outlook of recruiting the best of youth prospects, not just in England, but across Europe and beyond. The end product of such a viewpoint has been the emanation of some of the brightest young talents over the years and ahead of the summer, names like Eduardo Quaresma and Pape Sarr have been linked with the Blues.

Moran, too, is a player worth considering for Chelsea, although they face stiff competition from Manchester United, who themselves have had a youth-centric recruitment approach for quite some time. As a result, the Red Devils have made a move for many-a-prodigious talent, including Carney Chukwuemeka, Pape Sarr and Matthew Cox.

Judging by the player’s progress, though, it might even be the case that he slots straight into both Chelsea and Manchester United’s under-23 side. However, Brighton are determined to keep hold of the Irish attacking midfielder and are likely to resist all offers for him this summer.

In fact, it has been suggested in the report that Moran is not far away from breaking into Graham Potter’s senior squad. If that indeed proves to be the case, the prodigious forward might be better off staying put at Brighton rather than join Chelsea or Manchester United, where competition for places in the respective first-team setups is already intense.
