LEICESTER CITY are reportedly ready to offer Newcastle flop Florian Thauvin £57,000-a-week to sign for them.
Although the Marseille midfielder could end up pricing himself out of a move to the Foxes.
Brendan Rodgers’ side have allegedly made an offer to the Ligue 1 side in an attempt to beat their competition to his signature this summer.
That’s according to Estadio Deportivo, who claims the proposal from the Premier League club was the ‘last known offer’ to be placed on the table for the ex-Magpies man.
Thauvin becomes a free agent in June when his Marseille contract expires.
He received an ultimatum from Marseille in January but still refused an extension and looks certain to depart at the end of the campaign.
A host of clubs are keen on the 28-year-old but according to the latest reports it is Leicester who were the last to make him a proposition.
They are believed to have offered him a four-year contract worth £57k-a-week.
But the publication states the player has ‘prioritised the economic aspect’ and that he will likely sign for the club that offers him the most money.
Agent Bruno Satin told Estadio: “Thauvin is asking for a net annual salary of between 4 and 4.5 million euros, and nobody wants to give it to him today.”

That could force Leicester into a bidding war with other sides across Europe.
Although they may opt to look elsewhere instead if they deem Thauvin’s personal package too expensive.
Tottenham, Sevilla, Roma and Napoli have all also been linked with the ace, who endured a miserable two-year spell at Newcastle from 2015.
