Liverpool have reportedly expressed their desire to sign Sevilla attacker Lucas Ocampos in the summer, with the player also being courted by Wolves.
According to La Razon, Lucas Ocampos has emerged as a transfer target for Liverpool as the Sevilla winger braces himself for a potential move away from the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium in the summer. The Argentine attacker is also courted by another Premier League club in Wolverhampton Wanderers, with Nuno Espirito Santo ready to secure his services.
It appears Ocampos has been identified as Wolves’ desired replacement option for Adama Traore, who, in turn, has been linked with a move to Liverpool of all places. The Spaniard has endured a difficult time this season, failing to recapture his performance from the 2019/20 campaign and falling behind in the pecking order.
Ocampos, meanwhile, has enjoyed a rapid rise to prominence under Julen Lopetegui. He has become one of Sevilla’s key protagonists in the final third with his dynamism and pace playing a vital role in the club’s counter-attacking approach.
The Argentine has been involved in a total of 11 goals in all competitions this season, helping his team compete in the top four of La Liga, although he could not do much in the UEFA Champions League or the Copa Del Rey, providing underwhelming performances against Borussia Dortmund and FC Barcelona, respectively.
It does raise question over Ocampos’s credibility at the highest level of football as the attacker has not really impressed against any top quality side like Barcelona or Real Madrid this season. Although it has a lot to do with Sevilla’s performance as a team, there is no doubt that the 26-year-old could potentially turn out to be a risky gamble from Liverpool’s perspective.
Following a disastrous campaign in the Premier League, the Reds are in need of players who can guarantee quality and consistency in the final third, especially as the club brace themselves for the potential exit of Mohamed Salah while Roberto Firmino has been linked with a move shock move to Atletico Madrid.

Ocampos, in that regard, might not be the most qualified option unless Jurgen Klopp is merely looking for a replacement for Xherdan Shaqiri. Even then, the Argentine could cost a fortune and might not a feasible target for Liverpool in the current financial climate, although a lot could depend on how much Sevilla demands, for their star player this summer.
