Manchester United will make a move for Ismaila Sarr instead of Jadon Sancho if they manage to land Erling Haaland this summer.
According to a report by Daily Express, Manchester United will not make a move for Jadon Sancho if they succeed in securing the services of Erling Haaland in the summer transfer window. Instead, the Premier League heavyweights will launch the offensive for Watford winger Ismaila Sarr.
Ismaila Sarr joined Watford from Stade Rennais in the summer of 2019 and was one of the few bright performers for the Hornets in his maiden season at Vicarage Road, as they were relegated to the Championship. And so, last summer, speculation was rampant surrounding the 23-year-old Senegalese winger’s future, with Manchester United reportedly being close to signing him.
Instead, Sarr stayed put at Watford and has played a key role with his 9 goals and as many assists in 33 appearances in the Championship for the club as they aspire to go straight back to the Premier League. This has reignited interest from potential suitors, with Manchester United keen on signing him.
Manchester United are once again in pursuit of Jadon Sancho ahead of the summer transfer window as they look for an immediate solution for the right wing problems. Indeed, while Amad Diallo is touted to be one for the future, the Red Devils need to bolster the right side of their attack, especially with Mason Greenwood being increasingly used as a central striker.
With Anthony Martial facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford, Greenwood could get more chances centrally, thereby opening up a spot on the right flank. However, Manchester United are also set to prioritise a move for Erling Haaland in the summer and with both Haaland and Sancho set to be valued at around £100 million, the Red Devils need to keep their options open.

So, if Manchester United succeed in their pursuit of Haaland, they will look for alternatives for Sancho as they cannot afford both the players. This has seen them being linked with Pedro Neto, with Sarr also a viable target for the Red Devils, as his exploits in the Championship point towards a continued improvement in his output.
Having said that, a move for the 23-year-old will hinge on Manchester United’s ability to secure the services of Haaland. If they fail to do so, they could well launch the offensive for Sancho, and it remains to be seen which way the pendulum swings come summer.
