Mum shows how to separate herbs using a cheese grater

FRESH herbs are a super good way to add flavour to boring meals, but let’s face it, prepping them can be pretty time consuming.

That is until now, of course, as one mum has shared a little-known hack to speed up the process using a box grater.

The mum showed how to use a cheese grater to easily seperate herbs without have to pick them off

Posting on TikTok, Moriel Beth Obertann said she “feels like I’ve lost years of my life” having only just discovered it.

And others reckon it’s pretty “life changing too”.

Rather then separating the herbs from the stem by hand then chopping them up, the time-poor mum threads the stalk of the the herb through one of the holes on the grater.

As she pulls it through, the leaves are easily stripped away leaving the stalk completely bare in seconds.

She put the stalk through one of the holes and pulled it through, removing all the leaves in the process

It works best for herbs with bigger leaves such as parsley and coriander (also known as cilantro in the U.S.).

The clip has been views over one million times and people can’t believe they hadn’t known of the hack sooner.

“OH MY GOD. Genius. What in the hell have I been doing!! Coriander is going to lose this battle!” one person said.

A second wrote: “When I say I just screamed at my screen I SCREAMED. WHAAAATT.”

And a third replied: “Oh. My. Goodness. Life changing.”
