Piers Morgan begs fans to ‘help an old jobless man’ get his book to number one and ‘stick it to the cancel culture club’

PIERS Morgan has jokingly begged fans to “help an old jobless man” in a campaign to get his new book to number one.

The 56-year-old took to Twitter in a bid to “stick it to the cancel culture club” after making a joke about returning to Good Morning Britain.

Piers, who dramatically stormed off GMB last month before quitting the ITV show, filmed himself from the office of his home, where he had stacked shelves with his own book.

“I’m not actually returning to Good Morning Britain, that was just a little April Fools joke,” he told fans of his prank.

“It’s also the publication day for the paperback of my book, Wake Up, which is a call for a defence of freedom of speech and the right to have an opinion and an end to this ridiculous cancel culture that is currently wrecking our society.

“Let’s get back to what made Britain great – the ability to disagree with each other and then go and have a pint at the pub, not try and wreck each other’s lives for difference of opinion.

“If you want to buy the paper back and show your support for this campaign, then go to Tesco, Asda, WH Smith, Sainsburys or get online with Amazon.

“You’ll get it at dirt cheap prices and you know what, I can’t think of a better way to stick it to the cancel culture mob than to take the paperback of my book to number one as well.”

Piers signed off by joking: “So help an old, jobless man in his hour of need. Thank you.”

It comes days after the former ITV breakfast host was pictured scowling in a sunny selfie while rocking a daisy headband.

Piers held back a smile as he posed for the selfie which saw his head adorned with the delicate headband made of fresh flowers.

“To my haters: peace out,” he captioned the pic.

His fans loved the cute photo and joked that he passed the time since dramatically quitting Good Morning Britain to work on making daisy chains.

Piers left Good Morning Britain last month as tensions boiled over in light of Meghan Markle’s interview with Oprah Winfrey.

The host clashed with colleague Alex Beresford on GMB about his views, which lead to Piers storming off set live on national television.

Piers received over 41,000 Ofcom complaints in just one day after Monday’s episode of Good Morning Britain, where he accused Meghan Markle of lying about her mental health struggle in her and Prince Harry’s bombshell Oprah interview.

That evening, ITV confirmed in a statement that Piers would not be returning to Good Morning Britain – with his comments on Monday’s show also receiving criticism from lead mental health charity Mind.
